Trollinger Law LLC, a personal injury and workers' compensation law firm based in Waldorf, Maryland, has announced that nominations are now open for its annual Hometown Heroes Award. The award recognizes first responders in Charles County and throughout Southern Maryland for their dedication and service to the community. Nominations will be accepted from today until the winners are announced on October 5, 2026.
The contest is open to a wide range of emergency personnel, including paramedics, police officers, firefighters, emergency response teams, public safety providers, emergency hospital facilities and workers, military service members, and other emergency workers. This inclusive approach ensures that all those who contribute to public safety have the opportunity to be honored.
Each winner will receive a $500 cash prize and four complimentary tickets to a luxury suite at a D.C. United game on October 24. The honorees will also be recognized on the field at halftime, providing a public platform to celebrate their contributions. Previous honorees have included current and retired members of the Charles County Sheriff's Office, the Marine Corps, the Charles County Department of Emergency Medical Services, local police and fire departments, and volunteer rescue squads.
Matt Trollinger, founder of Trollinger Law, explained the motivation behind the award: "We started Hometown Heroes as a way to honor a group of people whose efforts to protect and serve others often happen behind the scenes, with no expectation of recognition. First responders help people and families during some of their darkest and most vulnerable hours. We're proud to express our appreciation for their courage and support."
The Hometown Heroes Award underscores the critical role first responders play in maintaining community safety and well-being. By highlighting their work, Trollinger Law aims to foster greater public appreciation and awareness of the challenges these individuals face daily. The award also provides tangible support, with cash prizes that can be used as recipients see fit, and an opportunity for public acknowledgment.
Nominations can be submitted by community members who wish to recognize a deserving first responder. This initiative reflects the firm's commitment to giving back to the community it serves.
