TruGolf Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: TRUG) has completed its acquisition of Polymath Research Inc., a Canadian company specializing in institutional asset tokenization and the developer of Polymesh, a Layer-1 blockchain designed for regulated assets. The transaction merges TruGolf's established golf simulation and software business with Polymath's blockchain infrastructure, creating two complementary revenue streams. As of Dec. 31, 2025, Polymath had issued more than $132 million in tokenized assets for more than 65 active issuers, supported by more than 50 ecosystem partners. The companies are also developing tokenized equipment leasing and fractional franchise ownership programs targeted for the first quarter of 2027.
This acquisition matters because it represents a significant step in the convergence of traditional industries with blockchain technology. By integrating Polymath's tokenization capabilities, TruGolf is positioning itself at the forefront of a growing trend: the tokenization of real-world assets. Institutional asset tokenization has the potential to increase liquidity, transparency, and accessibility for a wide range of assets, from equipment leases to franchise ownership. For TruGolf, this diversification could lead to new revenue opportunities beyond its core golf technology business, which includes simulators and the E6 platform. Following the acquisition, Polymath will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary while TruGolf continues its golf technology operations.
Leadership changes accompany the deal. Natalie Hirsch, formerly Polymath's chief financial officer and interim CEO, has been appointed chief financial officer and chief operating officer of TruGolf, while David Hackett has joined its board of directors. In connection with the transaction, TruGolf also received approximately $2.95 million in net proceeds from the exercise of Series B preferred warrants. These funds could support further development and integration efforts.
The move signals a broader shift as companies seek to leverage blockchain for regulated assets. Polymath's Polymesh blockchain is specifically built for compliance with securities regulations, which is crucial for institutional adoption. By acquiring Polymath, TruGolf gains not only the technology but also the expertise and partnerships that Polymath has cultivated. This could accelerate the adoption of tokenized assets in new markets. For investors, the acquisition offers exposure to both the golf industry and the emerging field of asset tokenization.
