Truro Community Kitchen’s 4th Annual Virtual Auction Aims to Combat Rising Food Insecurity

The Truro Community Kitchen (TCK) has announced its fourth annual virtual auction, running from November 22 to December 2, to raise funds for free meal programs as food insecurity intensifies on Cape Cod. The online auction features a variety of items, including Broadway tickets, travel packages, and artwork by local Truro artisans. All proceeds directly support TCK's mission of providing nutritious meals to anyone in need, no questions asked.

“TCK prides itself on delivering nutritious meals to anyone in our community, no questions asked. With rising food costs, a tight job market and reductions in federal food aid, more families and seniors than ever need assistance,” said Wendy Lurie, TCK Co-Founder and Board President. “This auction is a great way for community members to support TCK’s mission of ensuring that everyone in Truro and the Outer Cape has access to food during these increasingly challenging times - while also getting a little something in return.”

The auction is hosted on Bidding For Good, and a link can be found on TCK's website at www.trurocommunitykitchen.org. Bidders can browse and place bids on a wide range of items, with all proceeds going directly to TCK's meal programs. These programs now include a free monthly dinner open to anyone from Truro, Provincetown, and Wellfleet, hosted at the Truro Central School.

TCK often receives heartfelt notes from meal recipients expressing gratitude for “wonderful meals, so clearly prepared and delivered with TLC.” These meals, along with contact with volunteer drivers, highlight how TCK serves as a lifeline for many residents, particularly seniors and families facing isolation and economic hardship.

Beyond fundraising, the auction celebrates community spirit and mutual support. TCK encourages everyone to participate by bidding, sharing the campaign, and spreading awareness about this vital initiative. The organization believes that together, the community can take action to help those experiencing hunger or social isolation.

Founded in 2020, TCK delivers free, nutritious meals to Truro residents and now hosts monthly community dinners open to anyone on the Outer Cape, fostering connection and ensuring access to healthy food at no cost. The auction runs from November 22 to December 2, and more information is available on the Online Auction page.
