When Danny Trussell started Trussell's Transformations in September 2006 with a business partner and a truck, working out of his family's garage, he had a simple idea: a house isn't really finished until it feels like home. Twenty years later, that idea has grown into a family-owned remodeling company serving Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, and the surrounding communities, with 17 employees and approximately 8,500 completed projects. The milestone matters not just for its longevity, but for what it reveals about consistency in an industry where homeowners often juggle multiple contractors and uncertain timelines.
Trussell's Transformations has expanded deliberately over two decades. Two years after opening, in 2008, the company launched its own granite fabrication shop, bringing stonework in house instead of outsourcing it. In 2015, it moved into its current Albuquerque location, and in 2017 it added cabinet lines, rounding out a service list that began with kitchen and bathroom remodeling. Today, the company offers cabinets, granite and quartz countertops, flooring, roofing, and other residential upgrades under one roof, a full-service approach that simplifies projects for homeowners.
What sets Trussell's apart, according to the company, is that most of the work inside a customer's home is done by its own employees rather than rotating subcontractors. That matters on larger projects involving several stages and trades. Homeowners see the same faces throughout instead of a new crew every week, and one team remains responsible for the whole job. This hands-on philosophy has helped the company build a body of work that includes thousands of kitchens, bathrooms, floors, and rooflines across the metro area.
Danny and Christy Trussell currently own the company, which holds a New Mexico GB-98 general contractor's license and is a member of both the Home Builders Association of Central New Mexico and the Natural Stone Institute. Those credentials reflect two decades of standing behind the work, but the owners emphasize that the business has always been more than a company. "Trussell's has always been more than a business to us. It's been a huge part of our family's life for the past 20 years. Our kids basically grew up in this business," Danny Trussell said. "A lot of our employees have been with us so long they feel like family at this point, and honestly, plenty of our customers have turned into friends too. That's what makes reaching 20 years so special."
For homeowners considering a remodel, the company invites them to experience two decades of craftsmanship in person at its Albuquerque showroom, located at 8023 Edith Blvd NE. No appointment is necessary. Visitors can browse rows of cabinet styles and door profiles, slabs of granite and quartz in various colors and veining, hardware finishes for side-by-side comparison, and flooring samples underfoot. The design team is available to answer questions and help start the planning process. The showroom is open Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and is closed on weekends.
Trussell's Transformations also offers flexible financing options with quick approval and predictable monthly payments, aiming to remove the barrier that often turns a dream kitchen or long-overdue bathroom into a perpetual "someday" project. The company's philosophy is that waiting rarely makes a remodel more convenient, and that homeowners should enjoy the space they have imagined rather than leave it for the next owner.
As the company looks ahead, co-owner Christy Trussell says the focus remains on helping families create homes that work better for the way they live. "Twenty years makes us incredibly proud of where we've been, but we're also excited about what comes next," she said. "We want to keep helping families create homes that aren't just beautiful, but truly work better for the way they live." For more information, visit Trussell's Transformations.
