UGI Utilities employees are donating hundreds of literacy kits to schools as part of the company's celebration of 35 years of partnering with Reading Is Fundamental (RIF). The initiative underscores UGI's long-standing commitment to supporting education and literacy in the communities it serves.
According to the announcement, the literacy kits include books and educational materials designed to encourage reading among young students. UGI employees have been actively involved in assembling and distributing these kits, reflecting the company's dedication to community engagement. The program aligns with RIF's mission to provide books and literacy resources to children and families across the United States.
UGI Utilities, a natural gas and electric utility, serves more than 760,000 customers in 46 counties in Pennsylvania and one county in Maryland. The company has a history of corporate social responsibility initiatives, with education being a key focus area. By partnering with RIF for 35 years, UGI has contributed to fostering a love of reading among countless children.
The distribution of literacy kits comes at a time when schools continue to seek resources to support student learning, particularly in literacy. Research shows that access to books is critical for developing reading skills, and programs like this help bridge gaps for students who may lack books at home.
UGI's efforts are part of a broader trend of utility companies investing in community literacy programs. For more information about UGI's community involvement, visit https://www.ugi.com. To view the full announcement, including downloadable images, click here.
