The Vaudreuil-Dorion Municipal Hub, designed by Lapointe Magne et associes and L’OEUF Architectes, has been awarded the Grand Prix d’Excellence, the highest distinction from the Ordre des architectes du Quebec as part of its 2026 Awards of Excellence program. The project, which incorporates Advanced Glazings' SoleraWall System® translucent glazing, was recognized for advancing the quality of the built environment in Quebec.
The SoleraWall System® played a central role in delivering natural daylighting throughout the building, transforming harsh sunlight into soft, evenly distributed full-spectrum light. This technology helped create bright, visually comfortable public spaces that reduce glare and thermal discomfort, supporting occupant wellness and sustainability. The recognition reflects a broader trend in Quebec architecture toward healthier, human-centered public environments that prioritize daylight and occupant experience.
Dr. Doug Milburn, Chairman of Advanced Glazings, stated, “This project shows what becomes possible when architects are no longer forced to compromise between daylight, comfort, and energy performance. The Vaudreuil-Dorion municipal hub creates an extraordinary public environment powered by natural light, and we’re honored that the SoleraWall System® could help support that vision.”
The SoleraWall System® is increasingly adopted in schools, civic buildings, cultural institutions, and airports where human performance and visual comfort are critical. Unlike conventional glazing systems that often force tradeoffs between daylight, glare, and heat gain, this technology diffuses and distributes daylight deeply into structures. The OAQ Awards of Excellence were presented on April 30, 2026, in Montreal.
Advanced Glazings Ltd., based in Sydney, Nova Scotia, develops advanced daylighting technologies including the SoleraWall System® and Solera Reserve systems for commercial, institutional, and residential applications across North America.
