Verizon Eliminates Activation and Upgrade Fees, Launches Simplified Plans and Loyalty Program

Verizon (NYSE, Nasdaq: VZ) today announced a sweeping transformation aimed at simplifying its offerings and putting customers first. The company is eliminating activation and upgrade fees for all postpaid customers who opt into its new Verizon Loyalty program, launching the industry's most straightforward plan, Verizon Simplicity, and introducing Verizon One, a bundled mobility and home plan with taxes and fees included. These moves are part of a multi-year effort to reduce complexity and friction for both new and existing customers.

"We're fundamentally reshaping Verizon inside and out to put the customer at the center of everything we do," said Dan Schulman, Verizon CEO. "For too long, this industry has burdened people with complex plans, forced upgrades they don't need, and so-called 'rewards' with tons of caveats." The changes include the end of activation and upgrade fees, which can save customers up to $40 per device. Customers can opt in through the My Verizon app.

The new Verizon Loyalty program rewards all customers, regardless of plan, with 3% back in Verizon Dollars every month, redeemable for devices, accessories, or up to 5x value at partners like Sephora, Hilton, Marriott, and Starbucks. Additionally, Verizon Shine offers weekly sweepstakes for once-in-a-lifetime experiences, such as tickets to the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final, VIP access to Outside Lands festival, and meet-and-greets with artists like Young Miko. Daily drops include free coffee from Starbucks, Dunkin' treats, and gift cards from Ulta and Amazon. Details are available at verizon.com/loyalty.

Verizon Simplicity, priced at $45 per line (with a promotional $30 for switchers), includes access to Verizon's best 5G network with no tiers, unlimited 5G Ultra Wideband data, 10GB premium hotspot, roaming in Canada and Mexico, and satellite texting. Customers can add home internet starting at $35 per month. The plan offers device freedom, allowing customers to keep their own phone, buy new, or choose certified pre-owned devices. Upgrade options include Simplicity Plus and Simplicity Pro for annual upgrades. Customizable bundles, such as the "For Movie and Show Lovers bundle" with Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, Netflix, and HBO Max, let customers tailor their service.

Verizon One, available starting today, combines mobility and home services for $70 per month (taxes and fees included), powered by Verizon's 5G and fiber networks. The plan is managed entirely through the My Verizon app, offering a single bill and simplified experience. Customers can sign up for The Simplicity or Verizon One plan today.

These announcements build on the success of myPlan, which existing customers can continue to enjoy while also benefiting from the new loyalty program. Verizon expects these changes to be accretive to revenue and EBITDA growth and to drive continued churn reduction, with no change to the company's 2026 financial guidance.
