Vertical Data Moves to Secure 4.5 MW Data Center Site in Sweden, Eyes 100 MW Expansion

Vertical Data Inc. (OTCQB: VDTA), a vertically integrated AI infrastructure company, announced it has entered into a definitive purchase agreement to acquire an existing industrial data center site with 4.5 MW of power capacity in Sollefteå Municipality, Central Sweden. The acquisition, executed through its majority-owned subsidiary Vertical Data Nordic AB, marks a significant step in the company’s strategy to build out AI data center facilities and capture growing demand for AI compute capacity.

If the transaction proceeds, Vertical Data intends to continue pursuing an application for up to 100 MW of total power capacity at the site. This expansion would transform the acquired facility into a large-scale AI data center, capable of supporting intensive GPU workloads and sovereign cloud services. The project is part of an active conversion pipeline representing more than 250 MW of global data center opportunities, underscoring Vertical Data’s ambition to become a key player in the AI infrastructure landscape.

The deal is expected to close in the next several weeks, subject to financing, corporate approvals, applicable regulatory clearances, and other closing conditions. The acquisition highlights the company’s focus on securing power-rich sites in regions with favorable energy conditions, such as Sweden, which offers access to renewable energy and a supportive environment for data center development.

Vertical Data operates through three platforms: VerticalData.io, which provides enterprise GPU provisioning and managed infrastructure; GPUfinancing.com, which arranges structured financing for GPU deployments; and Vertical Edge, which holds equity in the data centers the company sources, develops, leases, and manages. This integrated model allows Vertical Data to deliver hardware, financing, and facilities under one roof, differentiating it from competitors that offer only one piece of the puzzle.

The acquisition is important because it signals Vertical Data’s ability to execute on its pipeline and scale its operations. As AI models grow in complexity and size, the demand for specialized data center capacity with high power density is surging. By securing a site with expansion potential up to 100 MW, Vertical Data positions itself to meet this demand and potentially attract large enterprise and sovereign clients. The move also reflects a broader trend of AI infrastructure companies expanding into Nordic countries, where abundant renewable energy and cool climates reduce operating costs and carbon footprints.

For investors, the announcement demonstrates progress in Vertical Data’s strategy to become a vertically integrated AI infrastructure provider. The company’s majority-owned Nordic subsidiary structure may also offer tax and operational advantages. However, the transaction remains subject to financing and regulatory approvals, which could impact timing. The successful acquisition and subsequent build-out could significantly enhance Vertical Data’s revenue potential and market position in the rapidly growing AI infrastructure sector.
