Wooten Center Renames Golf Classic in Honor of John Lapham, Supporting Youth Education

The Al Wooten Jr. Youth Center has renamed its annual golf fundraiser the John Lapham Golf Classic to honor a longtime board member, with proceeds supporting college and career readiness programs for LA youth.

The Al Wooten Jr. Youth Center, known as the Wooten Center, has announced the inaugural John Lapham Golf Classic, formerly the Wooten Golf Classic, to be held on Monday, November 17, at Porter Valley Country Club in Northridge, California. The event has been renamed to honor John G. Lapham III, a long-time board member and chairperson, and will raise funds for the center's college and career readiness programs.

“This tournament brings together the heart of our community to honor John’s legacy and invest in our youth. His commitment to education and opportunity continues to guide our work every day,” said Corey Dantzler, Executive Director of the Wooten Center. The event supports thousands of youth in Los Angeles through after-school programs focused on academic success and personal development.

The John Lapham Golf Classic will feature a full day of golf, a putting contest, lunch on the course, and a silent auction, followed by an awards dinner beginning at 5 p.m. Sponsorship opportunities are available at multiple levels, including Sapphire ($50,000), Diamond ($25,000), Platinum ($10,000), Gold ($5,000), Silver ($2,500), and Bronze ($1,500).
